My J&D 6 string bass

Right...here are some details on my J & D 6 string bass but before i make long sentences on it here are the specs :

Neck : H.Maple

Pickups : 6String JB Single Coil x 1, MA-6x 1 ( All Alnico5 Pickups)
Controls : Master Volume, Balancer, Bass, Treble
Finish : Stained oil
Electronics : Active

Well, what i can tell you that i bought this 6 stringer is that i bought it without thinking much, all because of John Myung of Dream Theater played it but mostly i fell in love with it. I actually have never played a 6 string bass before.My first bass was a 4 string and second bass(sold already) a 5 string, i learn playing 6 string after after buying it. It took me maybe 2 or 3 months of getting use of it. Ever since i bought the J&D bass it has become my regular bass for practice and gigs. What you see in all the pics this bass is still stock, no changes or upgrades yet, even the strings
are still same string when i first bought it.The first time i tried it i was pretty much impressed
by it especially the sound(fuuuhhhh... imagine playing on B string). What make it sound good was two reason... one is its "active" electronic and second the Humbucker pickup but there's a down side playing on "active" electronic bass or guitar,as the battery start to run low, it will sound sloppy and it would not deliver great tone.So...change the battery before you plan to play for gigs or competition.
As for the neck and the fret, it was difficult playing it for the first time because
of the wide fret spacing but after a while and lot practice my fingers started to become comfortable with it. For first timers, the standard 6 string bass tuning are B, E, A, D, G, C.
The controls are set as 2 volume and 2 tone knobs where one set of volume + tone controls the single coil bridge pickup and the other set controls the Humbucker bridge pickup.
So far my J&D 6 string bass has been great because its the only 6 string bass i've tried, i haven't tried other brands before, who knows others could be better. For those whom planing to buy one... is to try it first...i mean not like going to a guitar or music shop and try it for few minutes.... noooo... my advice, from a beginner to beginner, if you got a friend who has one borrow
it for a week(if your friend don't mind lahh), get the feel of it and see if its fits your taste or if worth converting to a 6 string but hey..... thats just my opinion/perception, the decision is yours.

To all viewers/readers of my blog....before i start to blog more.... need i remind you guys, gals n guitar enthusiasts out there that what i write here are juz infos that i like to share about the guitars that i have in my possession or guitars that i have tried b4,... i DO NOT blog on guitars,pickups, effects, amps or any guitar related that i don't have in my possession or have tried b4....is that clear (macam marah saja hehehhehe). So...hopefully you guys won't be misled or misconstrued (wow...dats a big word) by my blog...coz theres a saying which everyone may have heard that goes "whats good for me may not necessarily good for you". But what i can advice is that if theres a guitar you really like TRY it first(some of you should know this by now....rite??) same goes to the effects, amps and all the rest i've said above.So..thats it for the moment...you guys might be waiting 4 more guitar pics eh...well soon, i'm in the process of choosing sum good guitar pics that i'm giong upload....so...kip on visiting my blog.

rite.... where was i....ah..yes.... about d FLAW......sum of u guys mite say....."huh????.....FLAW????... how kam dat guitar has FLAW" or "ah...cuai kali eh tuan punya gitar ni" or "ah.....nda pandai pakai kali uang nya"....hehehe, well as i mentioned earlier b4 IT's a 2nd Hand laaa... and wat gave it these flaw is jarang be-maintenance.... biasa laa...gitar mahal pebaik kalau jarang be-maintenance gerenti ada problem nya kan...k...k back about this gitar, well...i think i'd better start dari awal about gitar ani.
Ok... Obviously its a fender scallop (or sum know it as a fender CBS type), it has a sunburst color, where for me its a classic color coz if there is other color most guitarist would choose type of color, for most of the body area when looked closely there mite small dings(maybe..can't remember) and few scratches at the back but the front section its a common scenario where ervery strum leaves a mark. The front side of the body as you can see are mostly standard except for the tremolo..this not an original fender tremolo, its just a Gotoh(gold) replacement tremolo compatible with the guitar...well almost compatible anyway...the previous tremolo was also not an original fender tremolo...how i know this because theres NO fender logo/name on any of the tremolo parts. From my experience all fender gitar parts has their logo/name printed or engraved, for those gitaris kitani yang peminat or collector of fender guitars, you guys know about this...maybe lebih arif dari aku. like as i said, mostly standard even the pickups are standard three single coil pickup but to say the pickup is original that i'm not sure coz when plugged to an amp it does sounds good on clean sound(no distortion or effects) but it also sound good on distortion too even though i play around the 5 way selectors, especially top part of the selector....usually to get that yngwie sound when you shred the whole neck hehehehe....
Now lets talk more about interesting part about this guitar..the NECK.. as you can see it is also a standard 21 frets, rosewood fretboard, and maybe the neck base is alder or maple, and by the way ...its a SCALLOP... for those never play a scallop guitar b4, it can be a learning experience coz for a 1st timer when you start to play a chord and pressing it hard you may get an out of tune like of tune sound but its actually not, but for the experience gitarist or O.L (orang lama) or gitaris kitani yang sudah memiliki scallop fender, they'll play it like any guitar macam aying bah...hehehe. I was recently being ask an interesting question by one viewer of my blog saying that why is the scallop not deep? if that what he meant to ask. well to answer that question, it is not necessary to make it deep..theres a certain measurement or depth to make a scallop...bukannya kan antam-antam saja...from what i can see is that either this is an original scallop or professionally customized neck coz all the scallop are smooth and even...smua cun and bisai...i've seen a homemade neck and it doesn't look good and terribly done.
I think written a lot already untill you guys are probably bored hehehe...what i can say is that this is still a great guitar although theres a flaw which i did not mentioned in detail, it just need more maintenance, actually this guitar will soon be undergoing upgrades...can't say what or when but it will make this guitar much better.

Info about the Fender scallop

You mite be wundering bout the Fender scallop i've shown from previous post, well.... what can i tell you guys other than the pics shown...it's a 2nd hand....yep...... it has been bought from the owner,used regularly by the owner for gigs and appeared few battle of the band competition.....and yeah....its a 2nd hand..hehehe.....you guys mite also ask who's the S.O.B hehehe bought this guitar and what was the price....for that i can't disclose it YET.....but soon it will be revealed... heck....y not ask around.... probably theres sumbody knows bout it or seen it.....usually words spread like wild fire...laju macam internet kali eh....hehehehe, this guitar has been by the 2nd owner for about a year already and also regularly being used....so much it is theres a certain flaw with it........
